Rucksack Inn 2

I stayed in a 10-bed female dorm for a night while in Singapore. There are a lot of backpacker inns along Hong Kong Street since it was conveniently located near tourist attractions, particularly the museum trail and Clark Quay. I booked through Agoda just right in the morning of my check-in.

The electronic door, the stairs, the shoeboxes — Your typical dormitory

Mind you, this is the newer  version in the Rucksack Inn family.  Further along HK Street was Rucksack Inn 1, and I didn’t really get a chance to check it out. RSI2 was exactly how they photographed it in their website. There’s a kitchen where you can whip up a sandwich anytime, a refrigerator to stock up your drinks, a hot & cold water dispenser, and all the kitchen utensils you’d need. Just make sure you clean after your mess.

The common room has at 6 computer terminals with high speed internet access, loads of books with topics mainly about travel, and the best one yet, a Microsoft Xbox that you could play with other guests.

Air conditioning in the female dorm runs for 2200 to 0800 only. The fans can run in between those hours. There’s also a personal bed lamp for night reading. There’s a little bit of space for luggage in the rooms.

Clean sheets, pillow, and blanket provided

I booked an airport shuttle for 1300 on the day of my flight to Cambodia. I wasn’t aware that you have to be out the door at the exact time. I thought that the shuttle would ring the doorbell or call the inn’s phone. The staff just helped me get a cab to the airport. Gladly, I reached my flight in time.

For around 32USD a night, it’s the cheapest, most convenient way to stay in Singapore. (Aside from sleeping at a friend’s place) I’d love to stay there again.
